New Balance Restocked This Fan-Favorite Sneaker and Pairs Are Still Available
One of New Balance’s fan-favorite made-in-USA sneakers is back in stock in a trio of core colorways.
The Boston-based athletic footwear company recently quietly reissued its 992 sneaker in three easily wearable looks including the brand’s iconic gray style. The classic tonal gray makeup is complimented by black-and-gray and white-and-silver colorways, each of which are available now in select sizing from New Balance’s e-commerce store.
The New Balance 992 first resurfaced in February with an in-store release exclusively at NYC retailer Aimé Leon Dore. It received a wider release in March and has since seen several limited-edition launches and collaborations with the likes of Action Bronson and Joe Freshgoods. Aside from the special-edition styles, the model’s core colorways are consistently some of its most popular looks and are often out of stock.

The 992 was originally released in 2006 and would quickly become a favorite of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, whose signature look was a black turtleneck, washed blue jeans and gray New Balance sneakers. The shoe’s drab coloring and thick, Abzorb-cushioned midsole has helped build its reputation as a “dad shoe,” but the model was also a favorite amongst street style-savvy shoppers in cities like Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.
In related New Balance news, the brand has a new set of Teddy Santis-designed Made in USA sneakers set to be released throughout the fall season. And aside from its chunky dad shoes, New Balance has found great success in 2025 with low-profile looks such as the 204L.
After being unattainable at retail for much of the year, the Made in USA 992 is back in stock on newbalance.com for $200. Sizes have already begun to sell out, so readers won’t want to delay if these are pairs they’re hoping to add to their fall footwear options.
