‘Wuthering Heights’ Trailer: Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Fight and Kiss in the Rain in Emerald Fennell’s Steamy Adaptation
A new trailer for Emerald Fennell‘s “Wuthering Heights” has dropped, giving viewers a closer look at the star-crossed love story between Cathy (Margot Robbie) and Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi).
In the unseen footage, soundtracked to a new song from Charli xcx’s concept for the film titled “Chains of Love,” Robbie and Elordi’s characters are seen meeting as kids before facing differences as they grow older. The two fight and kiss in the rain several times in the trailer, though it is considerably less raunchy than previous looks at Fennell’s adaptation.
The “Saltburn” and “Promising Young Woman” filmmaker wrote, directed and produced her take on Emily Brontë’s 1847 gothic romance. The original novel follows Catherine Earnshaw, who marries the wealthy Edgar Linton to retain a good social standing over Heathcliff, the orphan she was raised with. Devastated, Heathcliff dedicates his life to destroying their families.
Alongside Robbie and Elordi, the film stars Hong Chau as Nelly Dean, Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton and Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton. Owen Cooper (“Adolescence”) and Charlotte Mellington (“Matilda the Musical”) play younger versions of Cathy and Heathcliff.
“Wuthering Heights” is set to premiere in theaters on Feb. 13 from Warner Bros.
