A Colorful Southern-Summer Fête at Shoal Creek Club Inspired by Bold Florals and Classic Charm

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The primary wedding colors were all shades of pinks, greens, & whites. We also included vibrant pops of summer colors into the wedding design, mostly in the reception sailcloth tent. These vibrant colors included shades of peach, bright pink, and subtle orange & light blue within the custom floral pattern featured on the dance floor, bar, and throughout the reception!

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The design was purely inspired by the bride’s vibrant and bubbly personality & southern-girl yet classic style! This vision started with a floral pattern with bold colors that the bride had saved on Pinterest for many years before her wedding, and from this pattern, we planned thoughtful and intentional details that this pattern would be featured on throughout the wedding day! The overall vision for the day was a classic, colorful, southern-summer fête at Shoal Creek Club!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Luke thoughtfully planned the proposal on his family’s farm in South Carolina. Telling Hope they were attending his sister’s birthday dinner, Luke was able to get her dressed up with only a little bit of suspicion! The proposal was quaint and intimate at the 150-year-old barn. It was an emotional moment being at a spot that has meant so much to so many generations. All of our closest family and friends were awaiting a surprise engagement party back at the family home! Luke planned a true southern affair to celebrate, topped with a backyard barbecue and a live musician. The summer evening is one the couple will never forget!

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

The bride’s wedding gown was from Carriage House Weddings in Mountain Brook, Alabama. It was so detailed and unique, just like the overall design for the wedding day! The dress featured lots of lace detailing, where the bride wore a lace bolero with capped sleeves for the ceremony, and then took it off for the reception to be in a strapless version of her gown!

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Hope’s bridesmaids wore light pink, blush dresses from Bella Bridesmaids in Birmingham. We brought in the green color as well to the bridesmaids’ fashion by having custom embroidered bouquet sashes made for each bridesmaid’s bouquet. The embroidered sashes featured each bridesmaid’s initial so they could keep them as a gift even after the wedding day.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Groom & Groomsmen wore black tuxes. The groom had an outfit change as well after the ceremony, where he wore an all-white dinner coat for the reception! [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Hope & Luke had two passed hors d’oeuvres for cocktail hour, featuring a tuna crudo & a baked brie crostini. The Shoal Creek club servers all wore custom monogrammed aprons featuring the couple’s wedding monogram in pink & green. The star of the show was the custom pink espresso martini ice luge bar for cocktail hour! The ice luge bar featured the couple’s signature drinks: Espresso Martinis & Old Fashioneds. For dinner, guests enjoyed pecan-crusted chicken & a roasted prime rib carving station with lots of sides. During the reception & dancing, Shoal Creek passed a “late night snack” of chicken fingers & mini grilled cheese!

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The florals truly elevated & brought the full vision to life for Hope and Luke’s day! The bride’s bouquet was lush with light pink & white flowers, and featured a monogram pink bouquet wrap. The bridesmaids’ bouquets brought in the element of southern flair as they were small bundles of light pink hydrangeas. The primary wedding florals featured lots of hydrangeas, pink & white tulips, white roses, and of course, our personal favorite- pink & white ranunculus.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

For the wedding cake, we really focused on the classic, timeless, southern feel for the design! The cake was all-white and incorporated white detailed piping! Simple, yet elegant!

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

One of our favorite parts of the wedding ceremony was witnessing the couple worship together with their families, where a family member sang vocals. The processional & recessional were played on the keyboard. The bride & groom’s first dance song was “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” by Stevie Wonder. And they ended the night dancing to the song “How Sweet It Is to Be Loved by You” by James Taylor!

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

One of the main special details was the dance floor that made a statement at the center of the sailcloth tent! The bride was simply in awe that she would get to dance the night away on the floral pattern she had dreamed about for as long as she could remember. Not only was this floral pattern incorporated on the dance floor, but it was also included in the main round bar design in the tent, as well as on the console tables behind the lounge areas within the tent.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The second special detail was, of course, the custom pink, monogrammed bar that featured a pink monogrammed ice lug, which served espresso martinis and old fashioneds. This bar was a match made in cocktail hour heaven, and truly embodied the bride’s girly, timeless personal style! We loved how much of a statement this bar made in the main room of the country club, and loved that it created an interactive moment for guests.

And finally, another special detail of the wedding day was the custom-made scalloped golf cart topper made by the fabulous BBJ La Tavola Linens! The cart topper was light pink & green scalloped, and it truly was the cherry on top of the design and vision! It was the perfect addition to the golf cart that the bride & groom rode around on all day while taking portraits, and it was also used as the couple’s getaway car at the end of the night.
