From the bride, Marcella: “As a little girl, I always dreamed of a fairytale wedding, but what I once pictured as a grand ball in a castle turned into palm trees, ocean air, and a sense of peace that comes from being exactly where you’re meant to be. We actually chose Mexico on our babymoon (almost by accident!), and it ended up being the perfect place to share our love story. Waking up on my wedding day to a private view of the ocean we both grew up loving, I didn’t feel like Cinderella or any other fictional princess. I just felt like myself. And that was my favorite part of it all, just how perfectly the whole day felt.” The celebration began with a vibrant welcome dinner in the Ceiba Garden, where the design drew inspiration from citrus hues and the warmth of Mexico. Long wooden tables were covered in colorful blooms, lemons, and grapefruits, creating a joyful, sensory experience. Each guest was gifted an Oaxacan floral candle, and white papel picado adorned with the couple’s names floated overhead, adding a romantic touch to the open-air setting. Guests were invited to wear white, creating a striking contrast against the bright, sun-soaked palette of reds, oranges, yellows, and creams. The custom stationery suite was a true highlight, featuring a bespoke monogram and hand-painted motifs of leopards, birds, and tropical florals. Every paper detail, from invitations to day-of pieces, reflected the couple’s playful yet refined aesthetic. The ceremony took place on the Lagoon Lawn, offering panoramic views of the lush gardens. The aisle was lined with flowers in soft shades of white and cream, creating a serene, romantic atmosphere. For the reception, guests strolled through a tropical forest before arriving at a breathtaking space filled with all-white florals cascading from the ceiling and pops of red and pink across the tables. Dozens of candles cast a warm, flickering glow throughout the night, while a custom dance floor featuring the couple’s monogram served as the centerpiece for an unforgettable evening of celebration.

As an influencer, fashion was very important to Marcella! Her rehearsal dinner dress was by a local Mexican designer, Anikena Atelier, and was gifted to her by Cooper. Her wedding gown was the Michelle gown by Liz Martinez. She chose to keep the skirt sheer, making it perfect for their beach portraits. The gown is covered in sequins, which captured the golden hour light perfectly. For the rehearsal, she changed into the Mercury Gown by Netta BenShabu.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The food was focused on local cuisine, which is what the Rosewood is known for!

The cocktail hour included mini lobster rolls, taquitos, and pastry-wrapped sausages. Their featured drinks were strawberry guava spritzes and piña coladas (which featured heart-shaped pineapples on top!) as well as a mocktail named after their son, Henry, which was a raspberry and blueberry lemonade.

For the reception dinner, guests enjoyed a sit-down meal that started with Roasted Sweet Corn Soup and fruit salad. Entrees were a choice of grilled snapper, short rib, or mushroom risotto. [/field]

Flowers played a large part in the design. From a statement welcome area at the rehearsal dinner with larger-than-life displays, to the flowers hanging from the reception space, no detail was overlooked! Every single space of the reception featured flowers, including a large display around the DJ booth and large arrangements by the photo booth. Tropical blooms were added throughout her bouquet and the arrangements, including pine cone ginger, birds of paradise, orchids, and jumbo calla lilies.

Each song was personally meaningful to the couple, and performed live by a guitar, piano, and singer trio. The wedding party came into Moon River, and the bride entered to La Vie En Rose (with vocals!), and the final song was At Last. The first dance was Kissing You by Des’ree/Beyoncé.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]For Marcella and Cooper, getting married in Mexico was more than a destination: it was a meaningful return to a place tied to their childhoods. Both grew up visiting Mexico, and with Marcella’s late father originally from there, the setting held deep significance. Joined by their young son, Henry, the couple celebrated their wedding weekend at Rosewood Mayakoba, a lush tropical setting that reflected their roots and shared story.

The bride had some pieces of advice for couples getting married! We almost skipped the film for our wedding. Now I can’t imagine not having these memories to look back on. I had to pinch myself all day, but these are photographic proof that you can have a perfect beach wedding (even with missed flights, lost wedding bands, and messy, ocean-sprayed hair), but none of that matters when you get to marry your best friend in paradise. Take a moment with your mom. Timeswhene I still feel like her little girl again are rare. But this was one of them. Don’t skip the candids. The portraits capture the beauty, the candids tell the story.

The ceremony took place on the Lagoon Lawn beneath a sculptural, tree-inspired altar surrounded by tropical plants. At the beachfront reception at Aquí Me Quedo, guests kicked off their shoes and danced under the stars.
