‘We Were Liars’ Season 2 Casts Young Versions of the Sinclairs as Show Travels Back to Summer of 1999
“We Were Liars” Season 2 has added six new cast members, with the second season set to take place in the summer of 1999 at Beechwood Island.
Josh Dallas (“Manifest,” “Once Upon a Time”) will play young Harris Sinclair, with Costa D’Angelo (“Tell Me Lies,” upcoming “East of Eden”) set as new character Pfeff. Parker Lapaine (“House of the Dragons”) will play young Carrie Sinclair, while Peyton List (“Gotham,” “Mad Men”) will play a young Tipper Sinclair. Elysia Roorbach (“The Pitt”) is set as young Penny Sinclair, and Madison Wolfe (“The Hunting Wives,” “Mayfair Witches”) will play young Bess Sinclair.

The original development deal for the show included the TV rights to “We Were Liars,” the prequel novel “Family of Liars,” and Lockhart’s standalone novel “Again Again.” Season 2 will draw on “Family of Liars” for its storyline.
The official logline for the second season of the Amazon Prime Video series states, “In an effort to confront her truth, Cadence returns to Beechwood. As she digs deeper into family secrets, she learns about the Sinclair Sisters’ summer of 1999 — a summer rife with first love, rivalry, and even murder. In flashbacks, we see Carrie, Penny, and Bess navigate their own teenage summer, as they come to terms with their past in the present day.”
Season 1 of the mystery thriller series starred Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence Sinclair Eastman, Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis; alongside Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil, and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.
“We Were Liars” is written and executive produced by co-showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie. Emily Cummins of Plec’s My So-Called Company also executive produces along with Lockhart, Brett Matthews, Marguerite MacIntyre, and author E. Lockhart. Universal Television, where Plec is under an overall deal, and Amazon MGM Studios produce. The novel is published by Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books.
