Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’ Finally Hits No. 1 on Songs Chart

In its 16th week on Billboard’s Hot 100 songs chart, Alex Warren‘s “Ordinary” has hit a peak of No. 1 in the United States. The romantic ballad has been slowly dancing around the summit for weeks, rising from No. 4 to No. 1 this week, with a total of 21 million official streams and 44 million radio airplay audience impressions, per Luminate.

For the California-bred singer-songwriter, “Ordinary” becomes his first major hit single, though it is his second entry on the all-genre-inclusive songs chart; he previously charted with “Burning Down” hitting at high of No. 69 in October.

“We wrote ‘Ordinary’ in December last year, started teasing it in January, and released it in February,” Warren told Variety in May. “In the music industry, that’s a crazy fast turnaround, but we did that because we knew immediately how good it was. I’ve never had a song so quickly ‘click’ and I just had to put it out as soon as possible.”

Before turning his attention to music making full-time, Warren was best known for his place in the Hype House, a group of TikTok content creators that had their own show on Netflix. In 2022, he signed a record deal with Atlantic Records, and released his debut album, “You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1),” in September.

At No. 2 on the songs list this week is Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want,” featuring Tate McRae, followed by his own “Just in Case” at No. 3, and “I’m the Problem” at No. 4. Wallen continues to ride high with his latest offering, “I’m the Problem,” also leading the Billboard 200 albums chart for a second week. The set leads with 286,000 units this week after debuting with a total of 493,000 units earned — the biggest tally for an album’s debut week in 2025 so far.
