Kate Winslet Drops Out of Hulu Series ‘The Spot’

Kate Winslet will no longer star in the Hulu drama series “The Spot,” Variety has confirmed.

The project was originally announced in 2024 with Winslet set for the lead role. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Winslet’s departure came due to creative differences brought on by a change in the show’s creative direction.

Conversations are now ongoing with other actresses to take over the role. Production on the series is still expected to commence in 2026.

The official logline states, “When a successful surgeon and her schoolteacher husband begin to suspect that she may be responsible for a child’s hit-and-run death, their quest for truth spirals into a web of mounting suspicion and dark secrets, testing their resolve and their relationship as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal.”

Ed Solomon serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner of “The Spot.” A24 is the lead studio in co-production with 20th Television.

More to come…
