A Bi-Coastal Romance Celebrated in the Hillsides of Napa

Black, white, and gold

Allen and Shante brought their East Coast and West Coast roots together for one unforgettable wedding night in the picturesque setting of Napa, California. The Meritage Resort set the tone with its serene, elegant atmosphere, nestled among sun-soaked vineyards and rolling hillside views.

Allen and Shante met in 2011, thanks to Allen’s best friend, Greg. Allen was visiting the Bay Area with his youth basketball team for a championship game when Greg, who knew Shante and her cousin, asked if they could show Allen around San Francisco. Shante remembers pushing back on the idea of playing tour guide for a stranger, but eventually agreed. After that visit, Allen and Shante became “sports friends,” keeping in touch over the years with the occasional call or text to talk trash about each other’s teams. This playful back-and-forth continued until Allen began developing feelings for Shante. By 2016, the two were officially dating. Shante moved to Los Angeles, and not long after, they discovered they were expecting a baby. Their love story began to unfold alongside the start of their growing family, and a few years later, Allen proposed on Christmas Eve.

Shante stunned in a strapless dress from Flare’s, which she paired with a dramatic overskirt for the ceremony.

Dinner options for guests included braised short rib, pan-seared California bass, and stuffed portabella.

A black aisle runner, monogrammed with the couple’s initials, led to a gazebo adorned with clouds of baby’s breath. A washed-out palette of ivory florals melted seamlessly into the natural surroundings, creating a refined yet understated elegance, while the wedding party’s black and white attire added a classic contrast. Dinner was held inside the Estate Cave, with its unique barrel-vaulted ceiling for a romantic and glamorous setting. Long tables dressed in golden decor offered an intimate dining experience, infused with the kind of Napa Valley charm that made the evening feel magical.

The couple rounded off the night by cutting into their two-tiered, floral wedding cake, which guests enjoyed with an array of delectable treats from their dessert table.

The ceremony, officiated by a close family friend, felt deeply personal and heartfelt.

Touches of family creativity were woven throughout the day: Shante’s cousin designed the name cards, while another cousin crafted a spiraling floral installation and selfie mirror for guests to enjoy.
