A European-Inspired Boathouse Wedding in the Heart of Prospect Park

Robin and Sam’s spring wedding featured pastel watercolor tones, lush florals, and a dreamy aesthetic to create the feel of a spring, european garden party right in the heart of New York City.

Sam proposed to Robin in New York’s Grand Central Terminal by changing all the advertisement screens in the train hall to say “Robin, will you marry me? Love, Sam”. They love how they could continue the trend of sharing their love story on the wedding day in the Prospect Park Boathouse, another beloved public NYC landmark.

Our favorite part of this day has to be Robin’s fashion – we can’t decide if we love her lily of the valley appliquéd gown or her mini reception dress more! A gift from her parents was a custom-made lily of the valley bracelet from Brent Neale Jewelry to compliment her wedding dress.

The bride’s mother and sister wore complimenting Oscar De La Renta silk caftans that emphasized the floral focus of the wedding.

Guests dined family-style on filet mignon and pan-seared scallops paired with cheese tortellini, broccolini, and arugula fennel salad.

From their colorful oversized al fresco floral ceremony on the pond to their light-filled reception with vintage touches, every detail was thoughtfully curated. The bride chose to have no white flowers present except in her bouquet- lily of the valley, to match her wedding dress.

Robin and Sam’s cake embodied the floral and color-filled theme of their stunning reception. With mixed bright florals and a light green base layer, the three-tiered cake was the most stunning way to close out their perfect day.

A custom escort wall was built where each guest had a special handwritten note waiting for them from the couple. During cocktail hour, guests were asked to write notes back to the bride and groom and put it back in the wall. Now the couple has a scrapbook of all the notes from their guests that they can cherish forever.

The couple’s invitation suite included a watercolor painting of the Boathouse, along with a map of Brooklyn and hand-appliqued dried cherry blossoms, paying homage to the spring season and Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s blooming cherry blossom trees.

A special touch to the ceremony tablescape was hand-painted candles from Orna with lily of the valley motifs.
