A Free-Spirited Garden Party Wedding in the Rolling Hills of Carmel Valley

Matt and Emma’s California wedding flowed as effortlessly as the hills of Carmel Valley, embracing a free-spirited, organic aesthetic that mirrored the beauty of its surroundings. Emma noted that their loose garden party theme came together with inspiration from Pinterest and various weddings she had attended. Most importantly, she trusted her florist’s vision, opting for colors that naturally complemented the scenic property instead of adhering to a color palette.

Coincidentally, Matt had gone to college with Emma’s older brother, and she’d heard nothing but glowing reviews about him. So, when Emma and Matt matched on a dating app, agreeing to meet was an easy decision for her to make. For their first date, they enjoyed a picnic on the beach, savoring each other’s company and delighting in breakfast sandwiches. Four years later, Matt proposed at Point Lobos National Park, then planned an engagement party just down the street to celebrate with their closest family and friends.

Emma wore three dresses, each with a distinct mood – from simple to sparkly. She finished the evening in a playful mini dress adorned with floral appliqué.

Guests mingled in the sunset while sipping on local Carmel Valley wines.

Terra-cotta potted plants lined the aisle, leading to a breathtaking floral archway in shades of orange and yellow at the altar. In the distance, green hillsides dotted with trees created a stunning backdrop, visible from the exceptional vantage points among the vineyards and sunflower gardens. After the ceremony in the garden, guests enjoyed relaxed outdoor dining that felt both elegant and minimal.

The evening culminated in Emma and Matt cutting their mini, fruit-topped wedding cake under the California moon.
