A Heartfelt Celebration Amid the Mountain Views of The Cliffs at Glassy

A Heartfelt Celebration Amid the Mountain Views of The Cliffs at Glassy

The wedding colors were soft blues and greens to mirror the venue, a stunning golf community nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Growing up in Buffalo, NY, Lara and Joe always knew they wanted their wedding to be a celebration that reflected their deep-rooted connection and their love for the Cliffs at Glassy. Despite their hometown ties, the allure of the mountains drew them to upstate South Carolina. For Lara, this location held a special significance—her grandmother’s home, a cherished retreat for family holidays and gatherings. “The Cliffs at Glassy felt like a natural choice for us,” Lara explained. “We’ve spent countless summers and holidays here, and it’s where my own mother exchanged vows years ago. It’s a place that’s woven into the fabric of our lives.” Their wedding day unfolded with grace and elegance, reflecting Lara’s classic style. The ceremony took place at the iconic chapel perched atop Glassy Mountain—a spot that offered sweeping views and a profound sense of familial history. The reception was held at the Cliffs at Glassy Clubhouse, set against the lush backdrop of the golf course.

Lara chose a beautiful strapless ball gown wedding dress by Anne Barge for her classic bridal style. She particularly loved the button details on the side of the bodice, so much so that her mother chose an Anne Barge dress with the same side button detail to match! To complement Lara’s classic gown, only an heirloom would do: Lara’s grandmother’s stunning diamond necklace made for the perfect “something borrowed”.

The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo dresses in a gorgeous blue fabric with soft green embroidery.

The groom and groomsmen wore blue suits—perfect for the colors of the wedding, and perfect for this groom.

Guests enjoyed a seated dinner.

Decorated in shades of greens and blues, every detail spoke to the couple’s chic aesthetic. An open-air tent allowed for the outdoors to be brought in, and vice versa. The abundance of lush florals complemented the tailored, al fresco place settings. Lush greenery and crystal ball chandeliers hung over the dancefloor as a centerpiece of the tented wedding reception.

Flowers were delicately echoed through the intaglio aesthetic of the delicious wedding cake, which was the first impression upon entering the tent.

From the beginning, golf played a central theme in their celebration. “One of our favorite details was the seating chart,” Joe recalled with a grin. “Each guest found their place with a golf ball featuring our custom monogram”. This tied in beautifully with the table numbers, which were crafted to mimic golf hole pins.

The festivities continued with delightful surprises, including a cigar roller that became an instant hit among guests, despite the unseasonably chilly weather. The band warmed guests up quickly, though, by keeping everyone on their feet for the remainder of the evening with their incredible talent.
