A Joyful Hvar Wedding Blending Global Roots and Adriatic Glamour

Soft pink, Cream White

My husband was raised in Hong Kong and Canada, so despite us living in New York, we knew we would have guests traveling in from all over and opted for a destination wedding as a result. We settled on Hvar after visiting Croatia a few years prior and having an incredible time. The beaches, great food,d and vibrant nightlife made for such a fun and memorable wedding. Wee,ek, and the Promessi team made the process of planning a wedding abroad so seamless.

Ammar proposed on a trip to St. Lucia at Cap Maison. We were on vacation with my brother and his fiancée (now wife), and Ammar proposed one night at sunset on the beach.

My dress was by Monique Lhuillier. I’ve always loved the look of lace wedding dresses, and fell in love with their selection of lace gowns instantly.

Each bridesmaid picked her own dress, with the intention of having pink and blush tones that would complement one another in terms of color and texture.

Ammar wore a custom suit by Zegna, and his groomsmen wore matching suits in a lighter grey tone.

For cocktail hour, we served assorted cheeses and meats local to Hvar, along with a selection of canapés. Choice of Entree: pan-seared sea bass, chicken breast, or saffron risotto. Our signature cocktails were espresso martinis and margaritas, and we served all Croatian wines throughout the weekend.

Maja and her team at Showroom Design completely exceeded our expectations for the florals and design. They created light pink floral arrangements of roses and hydrangeas to adorn our ceremony and reception spaces. I loved seeing how the bouquets, ceremony area, and reception tablescape turned out – it was romantic and elegant while simultaneously allowing the beautiful views and backdrop of the venue shine.

The cake was a classic three-tiered white wedding cake prepared by a local bakery called Pastry Shop Sweets. We chose an almond flour vanilla cake with a mixed berry filling.

The ceremony took place along the water, which was the main reason why we chose Beach Club Hvar as our venue. A close family friend officiated, and each of our mothers prepared readings for the ceremony. A violin and cello duo performed as guests arrived and during the wedding procession. I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love.’

We wanted our reception design to mirror the linear layout of the Beach Club and to seat all our guests at a single, long table. The planners and design team did such an amazing job accommodating 145 guests at one table, and it was wonderful to see all our friends and family seated together throughout the evening while we listened to speeches and celebrated.

We had our first look on the terrace at Palace Elisabeth, with our parents, siblings, and bridal party looking on from the balcony overhead.

The night before the wedding, we had a white party on the hotel terrace at Amfora. For decor, we incorporated fresh citrus fruits for the centerpieces, arranged with vibrant orange florals as a departure from the softer pink palette of the actual wedding day. We had a gelato cart, spritz stand, watercolor portraitist, and live music to enjoy on Friday night in Hvar.
