A Parisian Wedding Weekend of Gilded Grandeur and Seine-Side Celebrations

One of the things we always said during the planning process was that we wanted our wedding to feel like a full celebration spread over a few days. Choosing Paris as our location helped make that vision a reality. We kicked off the weekend with a welcome party on a boat along the Seine River, which gave guests the chance to see the city’s most iconic landmarks and watch the Eiffel Tower light up at night. It was the perfect way to begin the weekend. Our wedding venue, Hôtel Le Marois, is the epitome of Parisian elegance. The rooms feature ornate gilded moldings, painted ceilings, marble fireplaces, and sparkling chandeliers. The tall windows open onto terrace gardens and allow natural light to pour in. The space felt historic and timeless, and the grand staircase added the perfect dramatic touch to both the ceremony and photos. It felt special from the moment we walked in and was the perfect backdrop for everything we envisioned.

Tyler and I both attended Gettysburg College, though our time there only overlapped briefly. He was a year ahead of me, and we each spent time studying abroad. I was in Rome and Paris for a year, and he was in Florence for a semester. We may have crossed paths, but we didn’t actually meet until August 2017, when we connected through a dating app. In May 2019, we traveled to Paris and I mentioned that getting married there would be a dream. Tyler responded, “I would do that with you.” Fast forward to May 2024, and we ended up doing exactly that, celebrating our wedding in Paris with family and friends. Tyler proposed the day before we were set to leave for a trip to Portugal in April 2023. After work, we took our pug for a walk through Central Park, something we often do since we live on the Upper West Side. During the walk, he proposed and completely caught me off guard. He told me we had dinner plans afterward, and when we arrived, I found both of our immediate families waiting to celebrate. It was incredibly thoughtful of Tyler to organize everything in secret and make sure both of our families were part of such a special moment.

I wore a gown by Enaura that I found at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. After trying on over 50 dresses across several appointments, I knew this was the one. It had the perfect blend of elegance, detail, and timeless romance that I was looking for. As soon as I put it on, I felt like a bride. We held our afterparty at L’Arc Nightclub, which brought such an energetic and unforgettable vibe to the end of the night. For my afterparty look, I wore a white open-back jumpsuit by Nadine Merabi. It was the perfect choice for dancing all night and celebrating with our closest friends and family.

The dress code for our wedding was black tie, which helped set the tone for a formal and elegant evening. When it came to the bridesmaids’ dresses, I always knew I wanted them to choose their own gowns, in whatever style made them feel the most confident and comfortable. I shared a color palette and moodboard with a vision of floor-length satin dresses in gold and champagne tones. They delivered beautifully. I loved how everything came together in the end. It looked cohesive while still reflecting each bridesmaid’s individual style.

Tyler wore a custom white tuxedo jacket with classic black tuxedo pants from Enzo Custom, creating a look that felt both timeless and modern. The groomsmen wore all-black tuxedos, which provided the perfect contrast and made the overall look feel cohesive yet elevated.

During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres and our three signature drinks: Hers, His, and Leo’s, named after our pug. Mine was a Dirty Martini, Tyler’s was an Old Fashioned, and Leo’s was a Gimlet. Cocktail hour took place in the terrace gardens before guests moved inside for the remainder of the evening. Afterward, guests were invited upstairs to the salons. One was set up as the bar lounge, another as the dance floor, and the third for dinner. The layout allowed the night to flow naturally from one space to the next, while still feeling intimate and lively.

We kept the florals simple and romantic, focusing on white garden roses, peonies, carnations, and delphiniums, with light pink roses and peonies for a soft touch of color. It was important to us that the design felt timeless and didn’t compete with the ornate beauty of the venue. Candles were placed throughout to add warmth and create an inviting, elegant atmosphere.

We chose not to do a traditional cake cutting and instead served each guest a plated dessert after dinner. It felt more in line with the flow of the evening and allowed everyone to enjoy something sweet without interrupting the celebration.

The ceremony was our favorite part of the wedding. We exchanged personal vows, my dad officiated, and our bridesmaids and groomsmen stood with us on the grand staircase. From there, we could look out at all of our closest family and friends. The lighting during the ceremony was beautiful, with natural light shining in through the windows. It felt personal and incredibly special.

We chose to do our first look in the streets of Paris before the ceremony. It was important to us to share a quiet moment ahead of the day. We took photos near the venue and on Pont Alexandre III, one of the city’s most iconic bridges. The backdrop of the Seine, ornate lampposts, and classic Parisian architecture made it feel incredibly special and cinematic. On our way to the venue, we even stopped for an espresso at a café nearby. I was in my wedding dress and Tyler in his tux, and we happened to run into a few guests on their way to the ceremony. It was spontaneous, completely Parisian, and a little memory we’ll never forget.
