A Pastel Summer Wedding Inspired by Vintage Cinema, Soft Romance, and Nostalgic Color

Our colour palette was inspired by the season we fell in love. Soft summer pastels reflected the romance and ease of the beginning of our relationship. We wanted the colours to feel light, nostalgic, and deeply personal.

Christian’s love for cinema and vintage design paired naturally with Mila’s passion for colour and creativity. Together, they envisioned a wedding that balanced old and new. The result was a thoughtfully curated pastel dream world that felt timeless yet fresh.

One year into dating, Christian asked Mila what her dream proposal would be, and she jokingly said, “A dramatic declaration of love, probably in front of the Eiffel Tower.” Christian recognized the truth beneath her humour. Seven years later, on their first trip to Europe, he found a quiet bridge overlooking the Eiffel Tower and asked Mila to marry him.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The bride wore the April gown by Rivini with a custom overskirt. April is her birthday month, and the gown features delicate French lace. A custom overskirt was designed to create an A-line silhouette for the ceremony, transforming into a fit-and-flare look for the reception.[/field]

Each bridesmaid selected her own pastel colour and dress style. Mila was intentionally hands-off, wanting each woman to choose something that made her feel confident and beautiful. The varied colours and silhouettes came together seamlessly, with florals matched to each dress.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groomsmen wore classic all-black suits for a timeless look. Each boutonnière was matched to the colour of their corresponding bridesmaid as they walked down the aisle.[/field]

Inspired by life on the West Coast, our menu reflected our love for meaningful, shared experiences. Food is culture to us, which is why we included a dessert bar featuring family recipes passed down through generations. Traditional Serbian Orthodox desserts were also incorporated to honor the bride’s heritage and roots.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Da Fiori Design brought our vision to life through florals that blended soft pastels with refined details, creating a beautiful balance of vintage and modern.

Adrienne of Winston’s Events designed and executed the décor, drawing inspiration from vintage imagery of the Beverly Hills Hotel. Soft pastels flowed from cocktail hour through the reception space, creating a cohesive and romantic atmosphere.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Maria of Pink Sugar Cake designed a vintage-inspired pastel cake that complemented the overall aesthetic. It felt romantic, timeless, and effortlessly elegant.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The groom and groomsmen walked down the aisle to “River,” followed by the bridesmaids to “Margaret.” The bride entered to an orchestrated version of “Young and Beautiful.”

For the reception, the first dance was to “Lifetime,” the mother-son dance to “Thought You Should Know,” and the father-daughter dance to “Landslide.”[/field]
