The event’s aesthetic was defined by an ivory monochrome palette, gently accented by the bridesmaids’ rose-pink gowns. The groom wore a navy velvet evening jacket, which contrasted strikingly with the bride’s auburn hair. The table setting featured arrangements of cream and ivory peonies, white spray roses, and lisianthus, with accents of ruscus, lentiscus, and lligustrum. The decor subtly reflected both the bride’s and groom’s heritage. Glass candelabras and vases, honoring the bride’s Glass City background, achieved a crisp, sleek design. Custom name plates in Valser quartzite evoked the Therme Vals spa, designed by architect Peter Zumthor. Celebrated for his mastery of Valser quartzite, Zumthor’s inaugural project was a tower restoration in the groom’s hometown of Lumbrein. Rose velvet bows, embroidered with each guest’s name, echoed the bridesmaids’ gowns. Yellow gold embroidery seamlessly integrated the quartzite and silver accents with gold Chiavari chairs. The lighting design introduced a cinematic quality, enhancing the event’s modern, clean aesthetic.

The bride wore a bespoke ivory duchess satin gown by Phillipa Lepley, accented with a high-neck top in delicate buttercup lace. A two-tier silk tulle veil featured the Aaronic blessing, hand-embroidered in Hebrew: The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. The veil honored Vernon Alexander, the bride’s mentor and friend, who had bestowed this blessing at their 2018 civil ceremony. His presence, along with the memory of other absent family members, was felt throughout the day. Her ensemble was completed with ivory suede mid-block heels from Emmy London, detailed with matching lace. The soles were studded with amethysts, honoring her family’s February birthdays—her grandmother on the 3rd, her grandfather on the 6th, and her own on the 9th. Although he passed in 2015, this detail carried her grandfather’s presence as she walked down the aisle. The bride cherished her grandparents’ half-century marriage as a guiding example of enduring love. The bride’s styling was further elevated by her ‘something blue’—a pair of Kiki McDonough Grace Pear Blue Topaz and Diamond Earrings. For the reception, Taylor removed the lace top, revealing the clean lines of her strapless gown. The waist was cinched with a white satin sash, coordinating with the groom’s shirt and finished in a voluminous bow. Kiki McDonough Grace Citrine and Diamond earrings and a necklace complemented her warm skin tone.

The bride’s bouquet featured cream and ivory peonies, white spray roses, and lisianthus, with accents of ruscus, lentischio, and ligustrum. However, due to the florist’s oversight, it was unavailable for the ceremony. In a gesture of kindness, the vocalist created an impromptu bouquet of blooming roses from the ceremony arrangements. This bouquet was presented as a Marian offering, with Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’ as accompaniment. Its minimalist design stood in graceful contrast to the chapel’s baroque architecture, capturing both simplicity and grandeur.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The cake cutting featured a Millefoglie al Cioccolato—delicate layers of puff pastry, filled with Chantilly cream, and studded with chocolate buttons. The moment was marked by a live rendition of ‘My Heart Will Go On,’ accompanied by a ballet performance. The integration of music, dance, and the cake’s presentation exuded refined
sophistication.[/field]

Gian and Taylor solemnized their marriage in the Capella del Coro (Choir Chapel) at St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City. Three priests—colleagues of the bride from the Vatican School of Paleography, Diplomatics, and Archival Studies—officiated the ceremony. It was an international affair; the liturgy was in Italian, with readings in English, Romance, German, and French. Guests came from two continents, representing countries across Europe and the Americas, including Brazil, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
