A Sun-Soaked Exuma Wedding Where Island Beauty Set the Tone for a Relaxed, Intimate Celebration

Savoring their wedding vacation in Exuma, Kyle and Haley let the natural beauty of the Bahamas guide their celebration. They treated the trip as the ultimate getaway with their closest friends and family, most of whom stayed at the property next door to the venue, making the experience feel like one long, sun-soaked gathering. The couple exchanged vows in a small waterfront church, followed by a relaxed outdoor reception.
Kyle and Haley never had a formal introduction – it always felt as though they’d known each other. They met while attending Washington and Lee University, where they both played sports and shared overlapping circles of friends, eventually beginning to date during Kyle’s senior year. Kyle proposed on the beach in Montauk, a place that held deep meaning for the couple after many visits throughout their relationship. He planned the trip as a birthday surprise and secretly arranged for both sides of the family to be there for the big moment. That Saturday night was spent celebrating their engagement — a memory Haley describes as “forever one of my favorite nights!”

Haley wore a gown by Mira Zwillinger for the ceremony, later changing into her mother’s wedding dress for the reception. She had the heirloom gown custom-altered into a mini, keeping the original lace and bow and pairing it with platform heels for a vintage-meets-modern look.

Signature cocktails for the main event included a Dark & Stormy and a Skinny Margarita.
Florals adorned the stairways and appeared in vibrant bursts along the tables, mingling with natural textures like woven fibers and rattan to create an effortless island feel.
As a surprise for guests, The Crusaders, one of the Bahamas’ most beloved Junkanoo bands, arrived during the reception to lead a high-energy dance party.
The night ended with a spontaneous splash: Kyle and Haley jumped into the pool, soon joined by many of their guests.
Their advice to other couples: “Decide early what is most important to you and follow that North Star throughout the process.” True to their word, their wedding embraced whimsy, joy, and connection — an unforgettable celebration they described as “the three best days of our lives.”
