Acne Studios Men’s Fall 2026: Classics Revisited

Acne Studios turns 30 this year, but don’t expect Jonny Johansson to jump out of a cake. With typically Swedish reserve, the designer plans to celebrate in private, though some reeditions are in the pipeline.

Rather, the anniversary was an opportunity to reflect on the idea of heritage, a concept that has come into focus as luxury brands seek to re-enchant their jaded clientele.

“I was the youngest and the upcoming, and maybe the odd one in the bunch, for so many years, and now all of a sudden, I’m the oldest,” Johansson mused, noting that he hasn’t seen time fly.

Looking back on those three decades, he said the biggest change is the way younger generations consume fashion.

“More than ever, people are looking for the package,” Johansson said. “In terms of aesthetic, the tempo is brutal, and I think that’s also why everybody at the moment is focusing on classicism.”

His fall collection played with the notion of men’s style guides, with looks spanning from pinstriped tailoring to elevated versions of wardobe staples like caramel leather pants, a weathered flight jacket or a loden-style coat.

Naturally, there were updated versions of the brand’s signature 1996 straight-leg jeans in trademark trompe-l’oeil treatments. But Johansson, known for his ugly-chic aesthetic, showed he still has the capacity to surprise.

He suggested wearing his collaged and photo-printed jeans bougie style, with a cranberry brushed mohair cardigan and dress shoes, or a pristine argyle sweater and leather bomber jacket — all topped off with silky neck cravats.

It turns out he’s been binge-watching “The Crown” during train rides to Biarritz, France, where he goes to surf. “I borrowed Diana’s hair for the look,” he said. “She was kind of a rebel, too.”
