- adidas Made a Mule for the Space Cowboys
Mules are a funny thing aren't they? Both a cross between a horse and a donkey, and also one of the coolest shoe styles adidas has taken under its wildly western wing.
The Y-3 Regu Mule is a ranch-ready slip-on that funnels standard western motifs through Yohji Yamamoto's contemporary lens. Y'all mind if the American Frontier gets really fly for a sec?
The leather upper wears western stitching throughout, bringing that cowboy charm to what can only be described as the antithesis of a cowboy boot. Backless and flat, this Regu isn't fit to saddle up on any IRL mules, much less an actual horse. Cattle? Forget about it.
Keeping with the space cowboy theme this mule has going on, the futuristic sole unit prioritizes cushioning around the forefoot and heel, priming this slip-on for lengthy strolls or curated Instagram photo dumps — judgment-free zone here, don't worry.

First released in March, the Regu is the first mule to come from the Y-3 lineage, though the slip-on was heavily inspired by other experimental Y-3 silhouettes like the 2003 Mei flat and the Y-3 Platform Sandal.

These archival sneakers paved the way, or in this case, the trail, for a western stunner like the Regu to take over.
