All the best looks at Venice Film Festival 2026 (so far)

Since its inception in 1932, the Venice Film Festival has always been a breeding ground for major fashion moments. In the 40s, Jean Marais and Jean Cocteau exhibited the highest levels of couple style in their sharply tailored ensembles; in 1955, Diana Dors rocked up to the festival on the back of a gondola in nothing but a mink bikini; and in modern times, we’ve seen everyone from Taylor Russell, Timothée Chalamet and Nicole Kidman rule the red carpet – and this year was no exception.

Things started extremely strong last week: John Malkovich reinforced his fashion icon status in an oversized suit and Elizabethan ruff from Jonathan Anderson’s Dior, Laura Dern also opted for Dior in an intricate drop-waist ball gown, while Kendall Jenner made a golden Venice debut in vintage Giorgio Armani. But it wasn’t just the Kardashian scion – Armani put in a strong showing across the festival, with standout looks from Nicolas Galitzine, Adults star Owen Thiele, and Overcompensating’s Mary Beth Barone, the latter of which wore an archival gown from Mr Armani’s AW00 collection. Despite that, Phoebe Bridgers was no doubt the belle of last weekend’s ball, arriving at the premiere of her acting debut Primetime in a see-through lilac gown from McQueen.

Outside of the main red carpet, the world’s biggest brands were still on hand to outfit all the celebs. Emma Corrin, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Pamela Anderson and Cailee Spaeny all appropriately wore Miu Miu to the label’s ‘Women’s Tales’ event. For the obligatory hotel arrival shots (where celebs dock into the Venice Lido pier on those famous water taxis), Patrick Schwarzenegger wore a look from Haider Ackermann’s most recent Tom Ford collection – complete with a leopard-print shirt collar – while Irina Shayk opted for archival, wearing a balloon-sleeved tailcoat from Givenchy AW15.
