An Elevated Western Wedding with Olive Velvet, Saddle Leather, and Ranch Romance

The elevated western-chic palette pairs rich olive/moss greens with warm saddle leather and wood textures, along with soft ivory tones, grounding the design in a refined ranch aesthetic. Creamy florals with light touches of blush and muted burgundy soften the tone, creating an overall feeling of modern, soft frontier elegance — polished, romantic, and effortlessly rooted in the landscape.

The design centers on an elevated western narrative, layering natural materials with refined styling to create a space that feels intentional, warm, and immersive (since we were at a real ranch in Oklahoma). Olive velvet linens and upholstered lounge pieces establish a rich foundation for the color story, while saddle-toned leather accents, cowhide textures, and raw-edge wood tables introduce an authentic ranch influence. The black chairs and tailored place settings add structure and modern contrast, preventing the palette from feeling overly rustic. The florals were meant to soften the masculine edge, creating a soft but refined vibe.

Her dress also honors the wedding’s overall theme. A modern, but subtle, corset wedding dress blends timeless structure with contemporary ease, in a simple but impactful western chic look.

The brown silky bridesmaid dresses embody refined, modern elegance — blending rich, earthy tones with the fluid luxury of silk for a look that feels both modern and western.

Food/Menu: Abbey Road served incredible Braised Short Ribs with Red Wine Reduction for all the guests. Tender braised short ribs, slow-cooked to perfection, are finished with a rich red wine reduction that brings depth and warmth to each bite, creating a dish that feels both comforting and elevated. We also did a tableside wine presentation led by a dedicated sommelier who guided guests through thoughtfully selected pairings. Later that night, Abbey Road set up a wood-fired pizza station so guests could take home personal pizzas in customized boxes. Available for grab-and-go or to enjoy on the patio, it was the perfect late-night snack! Bar: The bar was a big deal and a major statement for this couple. Fig & Foundry transforms our bar moments into an experience — ones that feel less like a standard wedding reception and more like stepping into an intimate, high-end cocktail lounge. Expertly trained bartenders move with precision and ease, crafting drinks with fresh ingredients, refined techniques, and thoughtful presentation (like custom-branded orange peels pressed with the couple’s monogram)! Every detail is intentional: custom cocktails, bespoke garnishes, right down to the bolo ties they wore to fit the theme. The smoked whiskey bar was a show stopper and a crowd favorite in our hidden “speakeasy,” along with mini espresso martini shooters to enjoy on the dance floor.

Emerald and olive created the perfect balance to the masculine textures and tones used in the rentals and decor, with the feminine counterpart brought in by the florals. Each table linen, structure, and bar told a different color story from the same book. Felix has an incredible eye for floral color stories that don’t feel repetitive yet remain perfectly in sync and artful.
The Floral design softens the environment with loose, garden-inspired arrangements in whites, ivory, greens, blush, light peach, and touches of burgundy, arranged low and organically to feel as though they naturally grew in the gardens outside. Lush grasses woven throughout the florals add texture and movement, grounding the arrangements in a natural, western-inspired aesthetic without losing softness or elegance. The overall vibe feels effortless and organic—romantic yet grounded, with just the right hint of rustic sophistication.

Amy Cakes designed a stunning 5-tier cake that featured a dulce de leche cake flavor inspired by the couple’s recent travels to South America. Each layer is adorned with delicate piped rope patterns and red cherries for a fun pop of color. The overall effect is romantic, with understated rustic/western charm.

When the timeline unraveled and the weather had other plans, we did the unthinkable: pivot and rebuild the day from the ground up in the middle of the night. This reception was originally supposed to take place in a sailcloth tent on the venue’s land. After torrential downpours and minor flooding, the tent mechanics were rendered unsafe and unsuitable for an event of this size. We had our multi-day production go under at midnight the night before the wedding, forcing us to execute and develop an entirely new plan until 3 am. It was as crazy as it sounded. But with the help of our amazing vendors (and other local vendors who heard the cry for help), we pulled it all off and redid everything, despite the storms and mechanical failures.

Custom silk bandanas from Convivio Studio served as the seating chart. We designed these with western motifs, as well as personal touches reflecting the couple’s story (their dogs, their personal brand, etc.). These were such a playful yet thoughtful addition to a wedding, especially with a western theme! Guests loved wearing them around their necks, tied on bags, or waving them in the air on the dance floor.

The speakeasy story! In the middle of the “3 am-plan-Z” whirlwind, the idea hits me: what if we create a secret speakeasy behind the band curtain? It’s bold, slightly reckless, but entirely FUN. Leather armchairs and sofas are dragged into place, the whiskey bar is set up in a back nook that wasn’t even meant to be usable, the cigar roller is ready/, and our saxophonist is added to lend that sultry, clandestine vibe. Imagine sneaking behind the velvet curtain at your wedding reception and stepping into a world completely apart from the main space—a hidden speakeasy pulsing with western glamour. The space is anchored by deep, supple leather sofas, arranged in intimate clusters that invite conversation. A cigar roller is seated, crafting hand-rolled cigars while guests sip on smoky cocktails from the custom whiskey bar. It’s not just a design element; it’s a unique experience. This hidden lounge becomes a secret moment of indulgence and relaxation—a private escape that contrasts beautifully with the energy of the dance floor, creating layers of experience in the wedding story.
