Andrew Garfield’s Cryptic Response About ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Has Spider-Man Fans Speculating Once Again

Remember 2021, when Andrew Garfield was doing his best to keep his Spider-Man: No Way Home appearance a secret? Well, history is seemingly repeating itself. As Marvel Studios has announced a plethora of MCU and X-Men characters coming together for Avengers: Doomsday, the fans have been speculating what the cast of Avengers: Secret Wars might look like, and they want to see Peter 1 (Tom Holland), Peter 2 (Tobey Maguire) and Peter 3 (Garfield) in the same frame as Spider-Man has a special place in the comic run of the same name.

Garfield was asked about his possible appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars by MTV’s Josh Horowitz. The two were in quite a jovial mood when the host suggested that fans might see Garfield in Doomsday follow-up, to which Garfield gave a sly response. “See, what it is, is this a tell? Or what is it?,” he stated while adding, “You’ll find out! Whatever response I’m having, is it exasperation? Is it? I don’t know. You’ll find out.”

Garfield is notorious for keeping his No Way Home appearance under wraps and even lied through his teeth, but when the movie was released, fans were proven right. So, this time around as well, fans will not believe him blindly until the highly anticipated movie proves otherwise. In the Secret Wars comic, Spider-Man is a key figure, eventually dealing with the consequences of the multiverse’s destruction, so avid comic fans are expecting to see all three Spider-Men in the MCU’s Battleworld. However, Marvel likes to give its own narrative twist to well-known comic stories, so it remains to be seen if and how the studio brings them together.

What Do We Know About ‘Avengers: Doomsday?’

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the movie will bring Robert Downey Jr in a new avatar as Doctor Doom. The movie that has finished filming will bring back several MCU heroes along with OG X-Men cast members. While the duo is famous for wrapping the Infinity Saga, this time around, they are telling a beginning story. They previously revealed, “What’s compelling about these two new Avengers movies is they’re a beginning. It’s a new beginning. We told an ending story, now we’re going to tell a beginning story. And then who knows where we’ll go from there.”

Avengers: Doomsday is set for a December 2026 release, which will be followed by Secret Wars in December 2027. Check out Garfield’s comments above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
