Elle Fanning Has a Butter Yellow Moment in Givenchy at the ‘Death Stranding 2: On the Beach’ Launch
Elle Fanning turned to Givenchy for her latest look during an event in Los Angeles on Saturday. The “A Complete Unknown” actress attended the launch of “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” a sequel to the 2019 Norman Reedus-starring action-adventure video game “Death Stranding.”
For the event, Fanning opted for a customized iteration on a power suit from Givenchy’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection, the first under creative director Sarah Burton, formerly of Alexander McQueen. The suited look, which originally hit the Paris runway in black, featured a trendy color tone ideal for the summer season.

Fanning’s suited look featured the popular butter yellow trend, which has seen a resurgence on the red carpet, at music festivals and more over the course of the last few seasons. The suit featured a bold, single-breasted blazer with a cinched waist for added silhouette definition.
The blazer included such structural details as sharp shoulders and angular lapels. A breast pocket and two waist pockets also featured as part of the look. The trousers of Fanning’s look were designed with a wide-leg design and tailored elements.

As for finishing touches, Fanning opted for metallic silver heels and went minimal with her Cartier jewelry. Her glam featured her blond tresses styled with a side part and worn in a sleek, straight style with a subtle wave courtesy of Gregory Russell, with makeup by Erin Ayanian Monroe. Fanning collaborated with stylist Samantha McMillen, who recently worked with Ana de Armas on her “Ballerina” promotional tour.
Butter yellow saw a rise in popularity in 2024, with several stars like Rihanna, Aubrey Plaza, Emily Ratajkowski and Eva Longoria styling their iterations on the color in looks by Loewe, McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana and Rachel Gilbert. Fanning’s “A Complete Unknown” costar Timothée Chalamet styled a Givenchy butter yellow suit for the Oscars last March.
Burton, who was appointed Givenchy’s new creative director in September 2024, turned to the 1952 archives for her first fall ready-to-wear collection, which debuted in March 2025.
“The clothes were superb, peerlessly realized and immediately desirable; sometimes young and zesty, but most often the pinnacle of adult sophistication,” Miles Socha wrote in WWD’s review of the collection. “Here was a show where you could sense how proud the models were to wear them, and the entire cast of diverse sizes and ages looked gorgeous.”
