EXCLUSIVE: In Givenchy’s New Campaign, Annie Leibovitz Shows Up on the Other Side of the Camera

SAY CLICK: At age 76, celebrated American photographer Annie Leibovitz has finally migrated to the other side of the camera, posing in a cropped gray sweater and dark pants for Givenchy‘s summer campaign.

Creative director Sarah Burton’s latest surprising casting choice suggests a wide-open aperture at Givenchy, embracing women of various professions and generations — plus a female-centric gaze.

Alongside Leibovitz and models Selena Forrest, Liu Wen and Kaia Gerber — who has appeared in several Givenchy campaigns since Burton arrived at the creative helm in 2024 — is the artist Isabelle Albuquerque.

A Los Angeles-based sculptor known for headless, human-scaled figures based on her own body, Albuquerque looks toward the heavens in a grand, fringed coat bearing dense floral embroideries, and also flexes a bicep while wearing a batwing cotton shirt and a sinuous skirt.

Collier Schorr photographed the five women, who seemed to be enjoying the process, occasionally flashing smiles, gesturing with their hands or — in the case of Gerber — throwing her head back ecstatically.

According to Givenchy, Burton’s goal is to capture the moments on set “expressing the impulses, wit and enjoyment women share. Sarah’s image-making blurs the conventions between who’s portrayed, who’s modeling and who’s holding the camera.”

English stylist Camilla Nickerson, who appeared in Givenchy’s fall campaign, worked behind the scenes on the summer images, with makeup by Diane Kendal and hair by Olivier Schawalder.

Previous Givenchy campaigns under Burton have featured the likes of Rooney Mara and Paul Simonon, plus such well-known models as Eva Herzigova, Adut Akech and Vittoria Ceretti. Schorr also made an appearance in the fall 2025 campaign.
