New Movies Out Now in Theaters: What to See This Week 

The month of February is bringing terror and heartbreak with films hoping to capitalize on Valentine’s Day outings, as well as a new slew of sequels to popular films.

This upcoming weekend has a lighter load following the release of both “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Paddington in Peru,” but fans of Oz Perkins following the success of Neon’s “Longlegs” have more frights to look forward to.

“The Monkey” follows twin brothers Bill and Hal (both played by Christian Convery) as they discover a wind-up monkey — a discovery that leads to devastating death in their family. Five years later, the twins are forced to stop the cursed monkey from killing even more people. The cast includes Theo James (“The White Lotus”), Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”), Rohan Campbell (“The Hardy Boys”), Elijah Wood (“The Lord of the Rings”) and Adam Scott (“Severance”).

The week’s other major release, “The Unbreakable Boy,” stars Zachary Levi (“Shazam!”) and Meghann Fahy (“The Perfect Couple”) as parents who discover that their son, Austin (Jacob Laval), has autism. Based on the book “The Unbreakable Boy: A Father’s Fear, a Son’s Courage, and a Story of Unconditional Love,” this true story follows the family as they fight for Austin to have the life he deserves.

Over in limited release, the dark comedy “Ex-Husbands” stars James Norton (“Happy Valley”), Griffin Dunne (“After Hours”), Richard Benjamin (“The Money Pit”) and Rosanna Arquette (“Desperately Seeking Susan”) for a story about a midlife crisis and family drama while “UnBroken” follows the daughter of a Holocaust survivor as she searches for lifelong answers.
