Officers facing misconduct hearing in Harshita Brella case

Four police officers will face misconduct proceedings over their handling of abuse allegations reported by a woman, who was later found dead in a car boot, Northamptonshire Police said.

Harshita Brella, 24, from Corby, was found in a car in Ilford, east London, 100 miles (160km) from her home in November 2024.

Assistant Chief Constable Emma James said after an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct, “misconduct proceedings are now under way in relation to four Northamptonshire Police officers, and as such it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time”.

She said an investigation into her death was “ongoing” and thoughts were with family and friends.
