Queen Camilla’s ‘Hamnet’ Movie Night Outfit Features an Embellished Anna Valentine Dress
Queen Camilla donned a black Anna Valentine dress for a special screening of the Oscar-nominated film “Hamnet” on Tuesday in London.
Joined by members of the cast and creative team, Queen Camilla wore a midi dress with floral sequin embellishments in black cascading down the fabric of the London-based couturier’s design — one of Queen Camilla’s go-to fashion labels along with Fiona Clare.

The V-shaped neckline of the dress framed the floral statement necklace Queen Camilla wore to accessorize her attire. She also wore diamond earrings and her standard assortment of Van Cleef & Arpels bracelets.
During her time with the cast and crew of “Hamnet,” Queen Camilla spoke with Oscar-nominated costume designer Malgosia Turzanska, who earned her first nod from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for her work in the Chloé Zhao-directed picture.

“I decided to keep the Elizabethan shapes but make them out of raw linen and just paint them with latex paint. It was very scary,” Turzanska told WWD of crafting the costumes for the final act of the film, which takes place in the Globe Theater with a troupe of actors performing “Hamlet,” Shakespeare’s tragedy. “We built these beautiful things and then I was like, ‘am I just going to mess it all up and we have to start from scratch?’”
Turzanska shared how working on the film “informed and helped” her own grief. “I cannot imagine being on a different movie,” she told WWD.

“Hamnet” is an adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel of the same name, a fictional account of how the death of William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway’s son Hamnet informed Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet.” The film is nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for Chloé Zhao, Best Actress for Jessie Buckley and Best Costume Design for Malgosia Turzanska.
