“One of the things that I’ve always loved about living in New York is that I don’t need to own a car,” R. Kikuo Johnson, the artist behind the March 31, 2025, issue, said. He grew up in Maui, Hawaii, and now lives in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn. But moving around the city is a different story depending on your means and your situation. “Since becoming a father, though, schlepping around town has become increasingly complicated,” Johnson continued. “My baby daughter is growing much faster than my stroller-lifting muscles.”
