Sabrina Ionescu is cementing her place not only as one of the WNBA’s brightest stars but also as a force in the sneaker world, with Nike officially rolling out her third signature model this summer. The New York Liberty guard, who became the first woman to debut a unisex signature basketball collection with Nike back in 2023, has steadily built the Sabrina line into one of the most talked-about series in performance footwear.
The Sabrina 3, which launched in July, arrives after the surprising crossover success of the Sabrina 2, a shoe that quickly spread beyond the WNBA and became one of the most-worn sneakers in the NBA last season. The latest edition features a midfoot cable system woven through pleated mesh for improved lockdown, combined with Cushlon 3.0 foam and a forefoot Zoom unit for responsiveness. A fresh “S” traction pattern covers the outsole, while the vertical Swoosh, now an established design cue of the line, returns. Personal flourishes — including Romanian-inspired embroidery — give the shoe a personal nod to Ionescu’s own journey.
“I know every single basketball player who puts on the Sabrina 3 will continue to see and feel the work that we’ve put in to create the best performance shoe that we can,” Ionescu said upon the launch. “This shoe represents so much of me, from the vertical Swoosh that we’ve had since the Sabrina 1 to the design touches personal to me. I hope it inspires all hoopers, especially young girls, helping them continue to break down barriers and believe in themselves.”
The Sabrina 3 hit shelves in a $135 “Blueprint” colorway for adults, with grade-school sizes starting at $100. Nike has also introduced a customization option that allows fans to create their own Sabrina 3 designs.
What makes the Sabrina series notable is the cultural reach it has carved out in a market long dominated by male athletes. Ionescu’s shoes have crossed league boundaries, making regular appearances on NBA courts. With customization options and storytelling built into each release, the Sabrina line has become a rare example of a signature series that blends high-level playability with cultural relevance.
