Shawn and Serena Levy to Host Sense of Home Hamptons Fundraiser
Filmmaker Shawn Levy and his wife Serena will host a fundraiser for foster youth organization A Sense of Home at their house in the Hamptons.
The event, taking place on Aug. 23 and featuring a performance by musician Amos Lee, marks the Los Angeles-based nonprofit’s official expansion into New York and the tri-state area.
In a statement Wednesday morning, the Levys said they were looking forward to hosting A Sense of Home along with its CEO Ken Grouf and founder and president Georgie Smith: “We can’t wait to introduce the groundbreaking and inspiring work done by this organization to a new community of supporters and provide them the opportunity to become part of the A Sense of Home family.”
The couple has been involved with ASOH for nearly decade and were previously honored by the organization at its 2024 gala in Los Angeles.
A New York expansion comes at a pivotal moment for ASOH, following the organization’s recently launched disaster recovery efforts. Drawing on a decade of experience creating first homes for youth aging out of foster care, ASOH harnessed its expertise, partner network and proprietary digital infrastructure to serve those affected by the L.A. wildfires, within days of the destruction. ASOH provides home sets of over 330 items to those who lost everything in the L.A. fires, creating over 20 homes per week.
“In the 10-plus years that I’ve been running ASOH, we have always prioritized investing our resources where there was the most need. Naturally, an expansion to New York allows us to once again answer the call, and provide life-changing resources to those in need,” Smith said. “As displacement becomes more and more pervasive, many vulnerable populations find themselves at risk of homelessness than ever before. Our work at A Sense of Home seeks to intervene at the beginning of displacement, helping to stop cycles of homelessness and economic insecurity. Thank you to Serena and Shawn for opening up your home and inviting friends and family to participate in the magic that is this organization.”
The Hamptons event will raise funds to support ASOH’s efforts to scale to New York City, for youth aging out of the foster care system and in readiness to provide disaster relief.
The organization’s 10-year anniversary will be celebrated at its annual Los Angeles Gala on Oct. 4 at the Pacific Design Center.
Shawn Levy is expected to start shooting “Star Wars: Starfighter” for Lucasfilm in the fall with Ryan Gosling, Mia Goth and Matt Smith. It is due in theaters on May 28, 2027.
