Singapore’s STI crosses the 4,000 mark for the first time
[SINGAPORE] The Straits Times Index (STI) broke through to a new record on Friday (Mar 28) as it crossed the 4,000 mark for the first time in early trade.
The index traded as high as 4005.18 shortly after market open, according to Singapore Exchange data. This comes after it hit a fresh record just the day before on Mar 27, where it reached as high as 3,991.
At 9.02 am it hit the high of 4,005.18, with 24.9 million shares trading hands, Shareinvestor data shows.
At 9.51 am it had fallen to 3,981.75 with 238.6 million shares worth S$281.7 million changing hands.
It previously hit a record on Feb 10, 2025, as Singapore banks also clocked new highs. On that day, it traded as high as 3,912.38 just after the open.
