‘Superman’ Gets Another Heroic Wave of Funko Pops Ahead of the DCU Film
With the summer movie calendar about to hit June, DC fans are just about a month away from Superman flying into theaters worldwide. Over the last couple of weeks, the epic James Gunn film starring David Corenswet as the prolific Man of Steel has been getting a Fortress of Solitude full of merchandise. This has included apparel collections, action figures from McFarlane Toys, and Funko Pops. The first wave of the latter was unveiled for Superman Day back in April. Now Funko has returned for their second wave of Superman Pops, and it includes a batch of colorful DC heroes and villains.
There are five normal Superman Pop vinyl figures in Wave 2, including The Engineer (Metallic), Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho with Baby Joey, and the Hammer of Boravia for $14.99 USD each. The Hammer of Boravia also has a chase variant of DC’s Ultraman. The other basic figure in the line is Superman (Battle Damaged) and it’ll be a Funko Shop exclusive. However, the star of this latest wave is Superman and Fortress of Solitude. This $34.99 Deluxe figure set comes with Superman hovering in front of the Fortress’ front door, which bears the film’s “S” symbol. The appearance of the classic emblem was inspired by the Elseworld DC storyline Kingdom Come. Wave 2 now joins Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and Krypto the Superdog, who were all featured in Superman’s debut Funko Pop wave.
The Next Generation of DC Merchandise
Ever since Tim Burton’s Batman changed the way blockbusters were marketed, toys have been a major component to a superhero film’s success. The new DCU is trying to right the wrongs of the last mixed-response decade for the brand with Gunn and Warner Bros. working around the clock to make moviegoers aware of this film. As previously stated, Superman Day was used as the launch of Superman’s merch campaign. However, companies like Funko have already been using the early part of 2025 to promote the character. This included a bunch of Superman comic Pops that covered the many eras of the Man of Tomorrow.
Various iconic comic covers, Superman’s black suit, Superman: The Movie and even the Target dog Bullseye got in on the DC fun. With the film right around the corner, there are still a few characters Funko needs to make figures for; Supergirl and the Kaiju monster seen in the trailers are just a few examples. Hawkgirl will also be getting a mysterious limited-edition (5000 pieces) Pop this summer. Although we’ve seen the character in her costume in the trailers, Funko is keeping her look a secret. This may mean fans could be getting a costume based on her classic design in the film instead of her “Justice Gang” uniform.
When Does ‘Superman’ Release?
Superman hits theaters on July 11, 2025. It’ll be the cinematic start of a new shared universe that includes upcoming films like Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Clayface, and The Brave and the Bold (Batman). Before the high-flying adventure begins, you can pre-order Wave 2 of Superman’s Funko Pops collection on Entertainment Earth’s website. You can also find more information about the wave on Funko’s website. The figures are set for release in June.
