‘The Chosen’ Universe Just Delivered a Spin-Off That’s Blowing Up on Streaming

The Chosen has since become a rather successful production with five seasons already aired and two more to come. Created, directed, and co-written by the brilliant Dallas Jenkins, the show is primarily set in Judaea and Galilee in the first century, centered on the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth, whom Jonathan Roumie portrays. Ever since the very first season, The Chosen has attracted an impressive number of viewers who significantly contributed to its success (and continue to do so), leading to the creation of an animated spin-off TV series, which has been performing exceptionally well since its debut.

For those who are new to the growing Biblical franchise, there are actually two The Chosen spin-offs: the animated TV series The Chosen Adventures and the unscripted adventure series The Chosen In The Wild With Bear Grylls. The former, created by Ryan Swanson, was released on October 17, 2025, on Prime Video with all fourteen episodes and instantly became a hit on the streamer. The new animated series debuted among the top TV shows in the US and is currently sitting at the #7 spot domestically on Prime Video.

The Chosen Adventures follows nine-year-old Abby (who has a talking sheep) and her best friend Joshua as they navigate life in the ancient city of Capernaum. When the children encounter Jesus of Nazareth, a wise craftsman and teacher, he helps them change their perspective on the world, and they help spread his influence far and wide, among 7- to 12-year-olds. The show stars Paul Walter Hauser as Sheep, Yvonne Orji as Pigeon, Romy Fay as Abby, Jude Zarzaur as Joshua, Danny Nucci as Abba, and Zehra Fazal as Eema. Jonathan Roumie (Jesus) is also featured as a recurring and guest voice star.

When Will’ The Chosen’ Season 6 Arrive?

The Chosen, which concluded its fifth season on Prime Video in June 2025 after hitting theaters, is expected to return with its sixth season. An exact premiere date has yet to be announced, but it was previously reported that Amazon MGM Studios and 5&2 Studios will release the Season 6 finale as a feature film exclusively in theaters on March 12, 2027. Season 6 highlights the crucifixion of Jesus and will be available to stream on Prime Video before the theatrical debut of the finale. Season 7 will then follow, kicking off with a feature film showing the resurrection of Jesus. This film will be released exclusively in theaters on March 31, 2028, after which it will be available to stream on Prime Video.
