Beautiful, black, and curvy, Jekalyn Carr is one of the most prominent praise and worship artists of Gen Z. In 2012, the then-15-year-old solidified her illustrious career with her breakout single, “Greater Is Coming,” the title track of her 2013 chart-topping project, which debuted as a top-tener in its respective category on Billboard. Carr would then go on to dominate Christian radio with hits like “You’re Bigger” (The Life Project, 2016) and “You Will Win” (One Nation Under God, 2018) — both indicative of her unique vocal range and artistic versatility — among others.

Flaunting an impressive shelf of 10 Stellar Awards, four GMA Dove Awards, and multiple number-one bops, the 28-year-old is certainly a trailblazer in her genre. In 2021, Carr (rightfully) earned the honor of becoming the first Gospel artist to be inducted into the Women’s Songwriters Hall of Fame. The following year, she received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. It goes without (further) saying that this powerhouse force is exactly who she thinks she is!

Earlier this month, Grammy-winning songstress Carr took to Instagram to share the release of The Jekalyn Carr Doll. The collectible, which boasts the Southern belle’s signature black hair and a lavishly designed, silver sequin dress, was reportedly a labor of love for the entertainer, who fulfilled a longtime dream.

“ was crafted with intentional design and beautiful, thoughtful details–each element created to inspire and bring out the inner doll in every girl, at any age,” Carr wrote in a caption under the promotional video announcing its Dec. 5 drop. “From her look to her message, she’s a celebration of beauty that begins within and shines outward.”
