‘The Napa Boys’ U.S. Rights Acquired by Magnolia Pictures

Magnolia Pictures has acquired the U.S. rights to “The Napa Boys” following its world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.

A description of the film reads, “A mysterious individual known as ‘The Sommelier’ leads a group of friends on a strange trip through wine country.” The cast includes Sarah Ramos, Mike Mitchell, Chloe Cherry, Vanessa Chester, Paul Rust, Jamar Neighbors, Nelson Franklin, David Wain, Ray Wise, Riki Lindhome, Natasha Leggero, Ivy Wolk and Beth Dover.

“The Napa Boys” is co-written by and co-stars Armen Weitzman and Nick Corirossi, who also serves as director. Weitzman, Mike Rosenstein for Sunset Rose Pictures and Erin Owens produced “The Napa Boys,” while Jerrod Carmichael served as executive producer on the project.

“From Terrence Malick’s TO THE WONDER and Lars Von Triers’ NYMPHOMANIAC PART 1 & 2, Magnolia Pictures has always championed tales that delve deep into what makes us human,” said Weitzman and Corirossi. “Tales that can be shared for generations to come like Narnia, Oz and The Color Purple. When John Ford created Monument Valley, he was setting the stage for what eventually would become ‘Napa Valley’.”

Producer Mike Rosenstein added, “We chose Magnolia because of their excitement for audiences to experience THE NAPA BOYS on the big screen. They are a dream partner to get people in theaters laughing together again for many years and many sequels, and prequels, to come.”

“We’re so happy that The Napa Boys have entrusted us to continue being stewards of this historic franchise,” said Magnolia Pictures co-CEOs Eamonn Bowles and Dori Begley. “We couldn’t be more elated to bring the newest vintage to audiences everywhere.”

Magnolia is planning a theatrical release for early next year. The deal was negotiated by Magnolia’s SVP Acquisitions John Von Thaden, with CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.
