Trump deploys National Guard to D.C., federal government to take over city police department

President Trump on Monday announced that he will deploy about 800 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., and placed the city’s police department under emergency federal control in an unprecedented move to combat crime in the nation’s capital and remove homeless encampments.
