‘Westhampton’ With Finn Wittrock, RJ Mitte and Jake Weary Acquired by New Distributor Obscured Releasing (EXCLUSIVE)
Obscured Releasing, the new distribution company launched by film industry vets RJ Millard and Bill Guentzler, has acquired North American distribution rights to “Westhampton.”
The film, directed by Christian Nilsson, will be released in theaters and on demand this Spring. It stars Finn Wittrock (“American Horror Story”), RJ Mitte (“Breaking Bad”), Jake Weary (“Animal Kingdom”), Amy Forsyth (“The Gilded Age”), Joy Suprano (“Best Foot Forward”), Sam Strike (“The Boys in the Boat”) and Tovah Feldshuh (“Law & Order”) and introduces Roxanne Schiebergen.
According to the official logline: “Tom Bell was responsible for a tragic accident in his youth; something that ruined his closest friends’ lives. Now, years later, Tom is forced to return to his hometown and finally face the people he wronged and a town that views him as a pariah. After being asked to screen his debut film, ‘Westhampton,’ a semi-autobiographical film about a car crash with devastating consequences, he realizes the demons he’s holding onto are his own. For the first time, Tom is returning to the real Westhampton.”
Obscured Releasing was launched in 2025 by Millard, a publicity veteran with strong ties to the indie community, and Guentzler, who was most recently in charge of acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures.
“Westhampton” has enjoyed a strong festival run, premiering at Tribeca Film Festival in June 2025. It went on to play at Twin Cities Film Festival and won the Jury Award for Directing at the Stony Brook Film Festival.
Along with Christian Nilsson, the film was produced by Saraleah Cogan, Rob Hinderliter, Alex Robbins, Terence Krey, Eric Tabach, and Dave Brick, with Michael Kahn, Jason Turchin, Finn Wittrock, and Laura Zatezalo as executive producers.
“’Westhampton’ is one of those films that digs deep into your heart,” Millard and Guentzler said in a joint statement. “Christian’s story takes us back to Tom’s hometown and the past he’s run far from, only to realize he’s not alone in his search for forgiveness.”
“With ‘Westhampton,’ I set out to explore the complicated geography of guilt and forgiveness—how returning home can feel like both a confrontation and a release,” said Nilsson. “The response from audiences has been deeply humbling, and I’m grateful to the festivals that embraced the film. Partnering with Obscured Releasing gives us the opportunity to present Westhampton in cinemas, the place it was always meant to be experienced.”
The deal was negotiated by Alex Robbins of TXE Productions, Guentzler and Millard of Obscured Releasing, and O’Brien Kelley of The Kelley Firm.
