ZDF Studios Seals 1,200-Hour Drama Deal With Hungary’s TV2 Group (EXCLUSIVE)

ZDF Studios has closed a multi-year deal to supply Hungary’s TV2 Group on more than 1,200 hours of drama, with free TV, pay TV and VOD rights for Hungary that allow the broadcaster to run the package across its linear channels and streaming services.

The package leans into high-recognition German brands suited to weekday stripping, themed scheduling and on-demand stacking —  a volume play aimed at keeping schedules filled with proven titles.

The slate spans library classics, long-running TV movie collections and contemporary procedural drama from the ZDF Studios catalog. Headline titles include evergreen titles “The Black Forest Clinic” and “Derrick,” alongside romantic TV movie labels “Rosamunde Pilcher,” “Inga Lindström,” “Spring Fever,” “Lena Lorenz” and “Katie Fforde.”

TV2 is also taking family titles with an animal-led hook, including “Our Charly” and “Hello Robbie,” plus crime and adventure series such as “SOKO Wien” and “Alpine Rescue.” Medical drama is included as well, with “Mountain Medic” and “Dr. Nice.”

Mirela Nastase, director of drama at ZDF Studios, said the agreement strengthens the companies’ long-standing partnership and combines “some of our most successful and beloved productions,” adding that she expects Hungarian audiences to embrace the titles “with the same enthusiasm they receive worldwide.”

TV2 Group chief content officer Gábor Fischer said high-quality drama is central to the group’s audience proposition and that the ZDF Studios package will “significantly enrich” TV2’s content offering “across all platforms” as it brings established series brands to viewers nationwide.
