TV tonight: a starry celebration of the great Amy Winehouse
Corinne Bailey Rae and Jorja Smith are among the performers at a Back to Black tribute show. Plus, Cynthia Erivo completes SNL UK’s excellent second run. Here’s what to watch this evening

Amy Winehouse: Back to Black at 20
9.35pm, BBC Two
A fitting tribute to the late star’s breakout album 20 years after its release, this special concert was held at the Roundhouse in north London earlier this week. It’s led by a team close to Winehouse’s music, including the album’s producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, and features the Amy Winehouse Band playing all the hits including Valerie and Rehab. Special guests include Corinne Bailey Rae, Flo, Jessie Reyez and Jorja Smith. Hollie Richardson
Strictly Come Dancing
6.30pm, BBC One
We’ve already had a few themed weeks in this year’s competition, but now it’s back to basics. Lacey and Vito will be doing the tango to a Blondie banger; Cach and Maddie will take on a cha cha to Måneskin; and it’s time to jive with Lawrence and Jowita. HR
Secrets of the Viking Ship With Bettany Hughes
8pm, Channel 4
In 2008, the remains of a boatload of Vikings were discovered on an Estonian island. With typically infectious enthusiasm, historian Hughes embarks on a Euro-hopping trip to explain how this bonanza of physical objects and genetic material has cast new light on the Old Norse era. Graeme Virtue
Dark Winds
9pm, U&Alibi
The hunt for a missing girl intensifies as the 1970s Navajo police respond to a spectacular shootout in a roadside diner. The cops begin a tracking operation, unaware that the two sides in the fight are, respectively, lethal and desperate. It’s the usual atmospheric mix of infinite dusty vistas and witnesses who all seem to hold a dark secret. Jack Seale
Marble Hall Murders
9.20pm, BBC One
“A $200m deal with Netflix or the death of a sick, elderly woman 20 years ago. Which matters more?” asks Jonathan (Rupert Penry-Jones) in the penultimate episode. After last week’s shocking death, tensions in the Crace family are running high, while our heroine Susan (Lesley Manville) has found herself being investigated for the murder. Priya Elan
Saturday Night Live UK
10pm, Sky One
Fans of her memeable lines from Chewing Gum will be cheering on Cynthia Erivo’s return to comedy as guest host in the final episode of this run. Obviously, we’d all like sketches based on the Wicked press tour too, thanks. Indie boys Blossoms provide the music. PE
Film choice
The Seventh Seal (Ingmar Bergman, 1957), 9.30pm, BBC Four
The scene where the knight (Max von Sydow) plays chess with Death (Bengt Ekerot) is among the most recognisable in the history of cinema, and endlessly parodied by the less cultured likes of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and The Muppets. But that shouldn’t eclipse the rest of Ingmar Bergman’s 1957 classic, worth seeing in full for its allegorical depiction of plague-ravaged medieval Europe, the austere black and white cinematography of Gunnar Fischer, and a climatic rendering of the Danse Macabre, performed before slowly dissolving dark clouds. Ellen E Jones
Cat Person (Susanna Fogel, 2023), 11.40pm, BBC One

Is Cat Person a romantic comedy? Or is it a psychological horror? The erratic tone shifts of this 2023 film, adapted from Kristen Roupenian’s viral short story of the same name, are entirely in keeping with its subject matter: what it means to be a single, straight woman and, in the internet parlance, “date your only natural predator”. Emilia Jones stars as Margot, a 20-year-old college student who begins an ambivalent relationship with Robert (Nicholas Braun, AKA Greg from Succession), a harmless if slightly pompous nice-guy lunk. Or is he? EEJ
